Weather went for a shit today with plus 5 and snow rapidly disappearing.
Watched two does for about 30 minutes today, and heard what I'm quite sure were bucks fighting down in the thick timber below. No response to the grunt tube, though, and they were in a jungle that was basically unhuntable.
Loads of tracks, few sightings. Mild weather sucks.
Zipped in for a late hunt this afternoon in my favored location.
I had not pulled a cam in here since Wednesday so was basing my decision on previous years activity at this time of the year.
(other cams are showing bucks but nothing of interest)
I was annoyed to see wolf tracks, cat tracks and a set of very large bear tracks.
No deer seen.
Pulled the cards after dark and headed home.
Here's one of the annoyances that's hurting my program in addition to the insanely mild weather....

This bear was becoming very annoyed with a squirrel that was sneaking in trying to grab a treat.
He was going to fight for every grain!

Ourea, how do you decide where to put down the feed to avoid just feeding range cattle?
I've bought a bunch of salt blocks looking to put them down somewhere but after talking it over and seeing what the cattle are doing, I have not laid a single block for 2 years.
Mind you I can't just pop by after work type thing. It's a bit of a drive.
I would love nothing more than to plant a food plot and feed these whitetails but there is so much cattle.
In other words is there any sense if putting salt in areas with cattle or any way to prevent them from finding it.

1. Human over population
2. Government burden and overreach
No cats for me so far but I feel your pain on the bear issue. One chewed up a brand spanking new blind last week.
I need to launch a blunt at his ass

Watch the squirrel go flying for his life.
Pretty cool catching unique wildlife interaction like this on cam
