grohmann are a great canadian made knife for hunting, excellent for skinning and gutting and a good meat cutter too. i would recommend going to a butcher and asking to buy a vitorinox boning knife and a steak knife if you are going to do you own cutting, they are a good workingmans knife with good steel.

I have a Bob Lay custom, perfect balance and shape.
Once you've used one you'll never use anything else.

My main knife is a custom Bill Wiebe that I use for all gutting skinning and deboning. Also a Buck 110 for around camp

Havalon blades will last a season, you need 3 OE blades to skin a deer.
Straight BS, too bad you bought the wrong knife but just won't admit it.

I gutted, skinned, and trimmed up 3 deer this past year with the same OE blade, and it was still sharp enough to clean up a skull cap afterwards. And, OE blades can be sharpened if you have nothing better to do.

Guys I know are buying 100 packs of Havalon blades because they're breaking and dulling them constantly. OE blades come in a 6 pack because they last so long and don't break all the time.

    Here, you'll need them.

There seems to be a lot of buck 110 knives that seem to stand the test of time. That's what I picked up for my kids for their fist knife.

I used to use Havalon ,now it's Outdoor Edge. Much easier and safer to change blades

I broke a couple early on as I was forcing it a bit too much. Since I carry two knives I simply use the havalon for delicate work only and my fixed blade when working around joints etc.this way the blade replacement doesn't even need to happen in the field. One should be fine for the trip.

    Not a big deal.

I have one too, had it so long (40 + Years) the blade has cut through the sheath so many times it has layers of duct tape and electrical tape holding it together.

I wonder if there's a way to gt a new sheath?

But I always have a Havalon with too they're awful handy.

And another but, I bought this Outdoor Edge kit drastically reduced couldn't say no

I think I paid 60 bucks I've got that much benefit and more just out of the little boning knife for final processing holds an edge well.
