That’s is the head of a mature domesticated boar that’s gone feral.
Most likely a cross between Large White, Landrace and Duroc to get a shape and color like that.
I think boar meat is prob the most unappealing flavor of anything I have ever tried. Tasty is not a word I’d use to describe a boar.
Wild pigs or (or more correctly, domestic pigs gone feral) are great at transmitting disease to local and domestic pig production.
I hope that if that was indeed a Feral pig that the shooter of it removes them all.
My opinion is based on the tens of thousands of pigs I’ve raised
Thinking someone dumped an old boar there after it died or outlived it's usefulness. I share your opinion of the meat flavour and knowing what an old boar is worth on the market it was likely cheaper to kill and dump. Hogs raised outside will get quite a haircoat.
Not sure why whoever did this didn't find someone to dig a hole and dispose of properly but that's the way she goes I guess.

I have even tasted one I think is called a Ridgling hog (a hog that one testicle did not drop and then was slaughtered for meat ) it tasted pissy to me !
Arctic Lake
Shot in the X ring, skinned out, that was a domestic hog that was butchered.
We had one a few months ago like that which we sold as a breeder. He ended up getting shot and butchered, and tasted as good as any other hog apparently. Had another boar I butchered for a coworker last week that tastes "so good, that a Rabbi would ask for a little bite". When it comes boars it is dependent on feed and handling after the kill as to taste on the table. (Mostly handling though.....)
