Region 8-8 Help Please

Me and a few friends are going to be staying at headwaters resort in 8-8 for the last week of october.
Ive been there about 5 years ago for fishing, but this time we have hunting on our minds. If anyone has some friendly tips or advice would be great to hear from you, pm if you would like to keep the information private.
We are all noob hunters and this is our first trip. Just looking to have a fun time and if we can get anything thats just a bonus!

Should be lots of moose kicking and md kicking around. White-tails increasing every year. You guys shouldn't have a problem putting some fur on the ground. No secrets in that part of the world as there are roads and cutblocks everywhere. Put in your time, hunt hard and you guys will do well.

Fishing can be a good mid day distraction if you have time and the fishing is usually hot in october.

Get up in the Alpine around Pennask Mtn. Gorgeous country up there and a few Mule Deer as well

Don't forget you can also see and take animals at noon time. More time you spend in the bush increases your chance.
Also, confirm what it is before you shoot.

Im going to be the first one out and the last one back until i have some fur on the ground thanks again all,
will put some pics up on the return. ive got a mule, white, and moose tag in case one decides to commit suicide for me.

U should run into all 3 up around that area, u just need to be in the right place at the right time. Good luck

Well, back from the trip. Arrived Tuesday around noon, with about 6" of fresh powder on the ground, and still snowing. was pretty much a constant flurry from the time we arrived to left.

Hunted everywhere around headwaters, concentrating around pennask / brenda lake.

Snow started falling as we were told, about 3 days before we arrived. Lots of fresh tracks all over the place for the first 2 days of scouting, after that the deer went somewhere and really disappeared. No fresh tracks in the fresh snow after each night, very little to be seen.
Talking to some other hunters, they said they saw 2 bucks down in lower elevations/out of the snow.

We saw a bunch of does in the first 2 days, but then no deer for the rest of the trip. lots of moose (cow and mature bulls) around though.

Some other hunters staying at headwaters when we were there had been hunting for a week before we arrived, they said they had seen 50+ does, not a single buck, lots of moose, but then all the deer disappeared for them too once the snow hit the ground.


Did bag a couple of grouse though.

overall, poor hunting but a great trip! atving in fresh powder and in some high alpine is FUN no matter what
