    A Birthday buck.

Sept 29th. Alarm went off at 05:00, and I knew right away that I had caught the cold my wife and kids had been fighting for a week. Had a bite to eat on the drive up ("everything" bagel with P'nut butter n honey, not recommended). Got to the area where we are going to be hunting for my wifes bull moose leh. Started hiking in the trees along the cut block at day break. Letting out a cow moose calls and the occasional sneeze here and there, I feel my cell phone vibrating, its my wife telling me that our son Hunter is sick and wont be going to school. Well since my wife has to go to work my hunting/scouting will have to wait as I need to look after him. Ive got about an hour or so before i need to get home so I decide to go check out a small lake I could see while glassing. Checked out the lake and was cutting through the woods to get back on the trail when I see a small white tail buck looking at me, he bolts from the treeline into the open, and I fire 2 shots quickly at him just so he knows Im serious() and he stops about a 100yds away and looks at me through a couple small pines, 3rd shot connected hitting him just at the base of the ear, he fell and didnt move. Small 2x1, but its my first white tail so I was pretty happy. Ive got a pic if I can email it to someone.

Well, Rob, I said I'd post this for you. As I said in my email, it's a bit graphic! Hopefully you have time to clean your wife's moose up for better pics..
