Well the snow was falling lightly this morning and my bud stevie gave me a call at 6 am,"hey lets go find a blacktail".Thats about all the proding that i need .Anyhow when Ruger No.1 see's this blacktail he's gonna wish he didnt have work today!!So Stevie and i head out to a spot we been watching the last 2 weeks, weve seen lots of scraps and in there and the last time in we seen a large dry bt doe so we know there in there. So we head up at first light and we split up,he goes one way towards a recent cut block and i keep on climbing up to a higher timber ridge i had my eye on.So i set up about 50 yds into the bush, fresh scrape all around and the walkie talky goes off,its Stevie,Hey i just seen a doe with two fawns come out ino the cutblock,so i radio back"watch them close, could be a buck on them".Next thing i know i hear his gun in the distance.Call back and he's like, man a beautiful big Blacktail buck came out on the doe and fawns.Well i had a 30 min hike down to where he shot the buck and when i got there i couldnt believe his luck ,A large bodied 4 by3 bt down...1 shot behind the shoulder at 120 yrds with his 7 mil mag and he piled up right there. The only problem was right there was 100 yds almost straight down into the cut block and it was nasty. That was at about 8;00 this morning and i just got home at 3;00.soaked and tired we had to pull the buck up to the access road with a truck, but its done now...pic's to follow
