I use long lines when duck hunting because I am mostly hunting divers in big deep water on the great lakes. To me the advantage seems to be you save time when retrieving them and they are easy to carry in and out of walk in lakes swamps and rivers

I have used decoys Texas-rigged with Tanglefree line. It is the fastest system I have seen for deploying decoys. Unclip em from the carabiner, and toss em in the marsh. EZ-squeezee! You dont even need a decoy bag (though toting them long distances is hard without one).

I've seen them with either the duck "floating" on the line between a weight fixed to one end and the loop that goes on to the carbine at the other....same as what is in the link......or with the weight floating on the line ...duck fixed at one end and loop at the other.

Any idea which is better? if fixed duck do you have it on a swivel??

My buddy has coated wire...rolls of it...which is used to make leader savers. he did up a dozen decoys with this wire last night and it seems to work fine.

I like the Texas rig, but not practical where I do my waterfowling since its tidal water. If you are hunting 5ft and under of water , its a great set up.
