    Dove hunting in Argentina

Just in the door from a short trip to Argentina for doves, anyone who has thought about doing this trip - I would give it a strong recomendation. I rented a Benelli 20 gauge and shot 3000 rounds in 3 1/2 days. I brought shooting gloves but quickly learned that they got in the way of loading and abandoned them at the cost of a sore thumb, wish i had brought hockey tape. Argentina is going into it's winter but the weather was fantastic, see pics, never got above 20 and never cooler than 10 c.
In my group was Terry Korth and colleague from Montreal, Mo Rizkallah, Ray Oeltjen and his wife Jan, Tom Gresham and his son Ryan and a couple that some might recognize from Reliable sports, Maureen and Dave Mathieson, a truely fantastic group. I plan to go back as soon as possible for a pigeon shoot.
The country is supposed to be beautiful but I would not be able to speak for this as we were only in Cordoba and stayed in the farming portion of this province only, right now they are in severe drought, less rain than in the previous 100 year history. I think some was on it's way as we were leaving, clouds had started to move in. Again, anyone that likes wingshooting - i would give this trip a high rating for entertainment and value. Keep in mind that a spouse that does not shoot would probably not have much of a good time despite the conditions at the lodge to be more than comfortable. A true Wingshooters paradise.

The chef was - at one point in time - Pres. ronald Regan's personal chef. He had 2 different recipe's for dove that were amazing, unable to define the flavors but a fruitbowl sized dish filled with breasts would disapear within 5 minutes. Keep in mind these birds had been feeding for a month or so on corn alone, yummy!

Do they use dogs at all to retrieve downed birds?
To warm barrels and cold noses

No dogs but they could, the country seems chocked with stray dogs. Would sure be a good place to train a dog - it rains birds at times.
