Over 90% of the toms I dropped the hammer on and those that fell to hunters I guided have been in the morning (about a half hour after dawn) to late morning. Just before noon and in the afternoon hours gobbler action drops sharply. That’s the time when the hens head for their nests. In the early evening hours gobbling picks slightly up again as the birds return to their roosting tree, but nothing much to get exited about.

Didn’t you pay attention in my seminar when I talked about the best times to kill a tom?

On a more serious note I too have found the morning the best, however you do not always have to call them they can be patterned like deer and then you just need to be at the right place at the right time.
