anyone have any ideas what this is.At first I thought it was a grizz scratch, but now I am leaning towards moose rub. whatcha think and why?

I could be wrong, But i was told that the markings are from moose eating the bark off of the tree. I have seen this alot in the area I hunt in Alberta. The area has a tone of moose in it.

In the winter time when there are deep snows depths and regular browse is limited, moose will often turn to eating the bark off the trunk of aspen trees. Elk will also do the same thing.

It is quite a common occurence.

you see that alot in moose country with those aspens. ive always been told that thats the moose peeling the bark for food

Looks kinda high for a moose. Older bear would be my guess, or perhaps....sasquatch. lol

Not sure about up there, but I know that Porqupines love to climb up trees chew the bark in the winter.
I have seen it in the past in Manitoba and it looks very similar...
