    Christmas Rifle update

Got a moose and elk with the Christmas rifle. Do not like the trigger, set it to 4 pounds.

When SH got the elk, I was nearby, so I can tell a part of my side of the story, however, since this is his thread i will let him tell the bulk of it if he wishes . Shed Hunter told me to sit on the other side of a gully near a watering hole while he went over to the ridge on the opposite side. If there was any elk there, the goal was to see if they would come my way and I would try and take one down. After a few minutes of waiting a shot rang out and I thought, "Dang, he's shooting my elk!".

That's Ok though, I got mine a few days later from near that location. Congrats SH, that's a nice opening day cow elk!! Maybe we can trade positions next time.

Sounds like what happened to me a couple years ago with my hunting buddy. We went in to an area where he had put up two treestands about 600 yards apart previously in the season. Long story short, I mysteriously ended up in the treestand that didn't result in the forky Mulie that day. lol.

Five days of hunting moose. Seen some big ones and cows. On day five seen a cow , it was calling, so I sat and waited. A Little later the two point showed up. One shot from the Christmas rifle in the neck was all it took. And the work began.
First day hunting L-E-H cow elk. Saw two cow elk and one bull running into honey hole. Set buckmeister in a spot to get a shot. I went around to push. saw elk on the run. One shot from the Christmas rifle got it, one more in the neck to finish it. And the work began.

Hey buckmeister, you gotta watch out when hunting with Shed Hunter. He likes you to think that he's pushing the animals to you, but it's actually the other way around. He's kind of tricky that way, but he will always help you out when it's really your turn though.
SHIT HAPPENS! Usually when the big one decides to show himself!
