    Back from the north

Well we just got back from our moose hunt and I must say it will not be forgoten for a while!! As we were headin through the far north we notice that one of the trailer wheel barkes off and trys to pass us, so we pull off to the side of the road and notice that the other side is ready to blow as well, thankfully this is a tandem axle trailer, so we change the one that we can and limp the load to the next town for repairs, we finally arrive to where we can get all fixed up...... 500.00$ later we are on our way to where we will call home for the next 2 weeks.
Day 1 we see a large bull standing at 160 yards out I get my gun all loaded up put the cross hairs on him and BOOM!! he jumps back excellent he is hit!! he walks over to the side of the road and lies down even better! So I start to walk/run towards him after some time and I notice that he did not want to lie there anymore so up he gets and turns broadside and starts to go towards the other side of the road..... uhh ahh so i let him have it again at about 60 yards and boy did he suck that one up nice and still would not expire so one moer to the boiler room and that was it he toppled over for good!! I was using my .340 250 grains all 3 shots were recoverd out of the other side and mushroomed well.
for the remainder of the trip it was very slow, nothing was seen or moved til the last day of our hunt and that is when our parter was able to connect with a 53 inch bull.
Now it is time to head home witch should take about 22 hrs, once we are on the highway we start to here some rumbling noises from under the truck, well this was off and on for a while (still no shop around to get it looked at) we were able to put 8 hrs behind us when all of a sudden bang crash, rear drive shaft let go!! still with no help around we crawl under the truck and pull it off and see if we can pull the load on the front drive shaft, we were able to do this for about 100 kms and she let go as well now we are on the side of the highway going nowhere as luck would have it we were able to flag a passing car down for a ride to the next town, we ended up waiting for few hrs for the wrecker to arive and the carry on with our trip home.....1000.00 for tow bill and the we are at the point where we had left my truck so we swap over all of the hunting gear and meat and we are off again.....36 hrs later I am home.
If some one could help with posting pics that would be great.

You shot two beauties!! It's a trip you will always remember....the good and the bad.
A few years ago we had a trip like that. So many things started to go wrong that we kept a tally. I think after 15 we stopped. Ended up getting our critters but with all the breakdowns and breaks I could have paid for a Brown bear hunt or Dall Sheep in Alaska. I just keep saying that it's ALL part of the adventure.
Thanks for posting the great pics. Great area.
