A nice bear you got.
damn thats nice
Thanks Elkhound! This bear is actually an Alberta bear, from near Grande Prairie. I suppose it should be in the out-of-province-forum, but maybe the mods can move it.
The short version of the story; we saw this bear hanging out on a gravel road, acting real goofy, obviously rutting. I snuck up to about 150 yrds when all of a sudden he turned and headed straight for me, not knowing I was there. I dove into the bush and got ready, and he wandered right towards me and began to turn onto the cutline in the second pic. I ranged him at 47 yrds and made a textbook double-lung shot. He bolted 60 yrds up the cutline, then 40 more into the bush, and was finished. We weighed him field-dressed at 250 lbs even (we figured 285-290 live weight), and he was 6'7" nose-to-tail, and 6'11" across the paws, giving him a 6'9" squared hide. His skull green scores 19 3/16" from what I can tell. He's my best bear so far, and my second archery bear. Had two meals off him so far, and both have been delicious
Nice bear and good story Archer. That's nicer than a lot I've seen taken with a rifle.Good job.
