    Another new bow

This one didn't come from a store though:

Of course it's a bit under hunting weight but the next one should be up around 45-50# if I back it.

    Re: Another new bow

It's from a Red Oak board. Picked through all the 1.75x1.75" pieces until I found a really straight one then ripped it down the middle to get a 1" and this .75" thick piece.
It's 72" knock to knock but I'm going to bring that down and probably back it with Maple to get the weight up. It's very, very light right now. I'm hoping I can bring it up to 35# and use it for a yard bow and aerial shooting (Which I'm trying to teach myself).
    Here is another picture:

If you want to get started in this sort of thing. It's very fun and not too hard. I'm not going to get rid of my compound, but I really enjoy flinging arrows with something I made.

    Re: Another new bow

well it's up to 28# after reducing the length to 69". I went to the hardwood store and found some ash veneer, it's 1/32" so I laminated on two layers. I will have to wait until tomorrow to see if it's gained any weight. I may also bring it down to 68-67" because it was bending nice today.
I also made my first flemish twist string, which was a bit of a challenge as it was a bit short; until I shortened the bow

Just an idea grantmack . I got a piece of bamboo flooring from rays hardwoods its 5ft long you could glue a piece of that on the back. It would improve it greatly.
