The CO has yet responded me on the Moose matter. For the bear matter, I replayed his voicemail he said if the first hunter INTENDED to shoot and kill the bear and SHOT the bear first, even if the bear was killed by the second hunter's follow-up shot, the first hunter should still cancel his own tag.
Out of curiosity.... Who shot the goat in your avatar picture?
Because if I did not do the follow up shot, the moose would had dashed downhill and became unretrievable. I left the CO a voicemail with my phone number and FWID; I also told him if what I did was wrong, he can issue me a ticket.
You certainly seem to hunt a lot of stuff where animals could immediately become unretrievable. Have yet to see a moose dash anywhere that it couldn't be retrieved, personally.

hmm... maybe go on more moose hunts that's not just in your honey hole? I participated in moose hunt in R3, R5, R7A, R7B and R8. Not all terrains are "moose swamps".

You are beepin' at the wrong moose hunter about how and where to find moose. I've killed double digits of 'em, but only one was in a swamp. And none of them dashed off to places they couldn't be retrieved, no matter if they were in Regions 3, 4, 7A, 7B, or 8.

Vincent, I have hunted a long long time and I have had mostly good interactions with the game wardens. I assure you, that I have done far less than what you describe and the fine was pretty steep. I learned a lot about birds that day. If you are not allowed to aim the rifle at something and pull the trigger, but you do, there'll be hell to pay. Even if you are protecting meat. Or in your case, saving yourself a few steps uphill with your moose (as you say, he killed it with the first shot in the lungs, so itll run maybe 150 yards.)

Lucky you, congrats! HBC should present you a double digit moose hunter award.
Nah, it'll be reward enough for me this fall when I shoot another bull moose, legally, on my own license.
Nice! Were those double digit all your open season, LEH or GOS spiker? Do you have picture with timestamps and geotags? jk, enough online COing on this forum.
Lol, I'm clearly into this one a little late as all the fun seems to have been had.
Great intentions, but the CO will not fall for your, "I'm saving the moose so he has a faster expiring time, and I can actually retrieve it" BS. If you can't retrieve it you shouldn't be shooting it! Period!!! Same as trying to say that the meat spoiled because I couldn't get it out. You can get a fine for that as well.
Like saying: "yes it is a spike I shot as the antler was already broken" before I shot it. They can clearly tell that one as well when you try and break the antler off!!
They also love the one where you use the fact that is has 10 stubs, but not actual points, in a restricted 10 point area. They don't care that you couldn't tell for sure, AGAIN you shouldn't be shooting it in that instance.
This is clearly not your typical: "just do it scenario and ask your wife for forgiveness after, as that is easier than asking for permission before hand".
