    Post DIY Pyramid tarp

    Hey everyone,

I had this long time project of making my own light weight pyramid tarp for hunting or any sort of mountain adventures.

I tough I share it with you and contribute a bit to hunting BC.

It took me around 20/25 hours, I barely never sewn before (made some gun bearer sling). I did it with a basic heavy duty sewing machine, and had some advice/help of my wife now after all this practise I am close to surpass her sewing skills

One of the big part was choosing a pattern I kind of copy a black diamond mega light pyramid and did a bunch of reading.
It's a square foot print made of 8 triangle with catenary curve on each of the corner.

I used Silpoly for the fabric for this water repellent property and light weight. All the seams was faux flat felled seams, each seams need to be sewn 3 times, so at least 24 seams. I had a double zipper waterproof zipper.

The finish tarp weight is 700gr with seams sealer, the final weights with 12 pegs and line is 900gr, and had to that one hiking pole each if you are two, you can also use a stick or a branch if you really want to save weight. They are no floor, and you can pitch it pretty tight.

The project cost me around 350$ with few extra costly mistakes and learned lots of new skills. I will said if you have any DIY project like that don't wait, don't be scared, even if it doesn't work you will learn a lots !!! Go for it!!

    Thanks, I used seam gream+sil.

I also made my own with silicone caulking and natural paint thinner for gluing the reinforcement. All the seams are glue with kids glue before sewing them it's much easier than using the clips, after I glue them I put clips. Siloply is a very slick fabric to sew.

Is it long enough to sleep in? Or was it the template for a bigger one.
    Cool design.
I bought a Jenome HD3000BE to redo my boat canopy. The material waits.

The challenge of retirement is how to spend time without spending money.
The worst day slinging lead is still better than the best day working.
Look around is there someone you can introduce to shooting because that’s the only way we will buck the anti gun trend sweeping Canada! "tigrr 2006"

Yeah you can sleep two people with one kid or a dog easy. And fit all your gear for a week in the backcountry. Good luck for your boat canopy, not sure what's next project.
