Does anyone have any stories of their inflatable boat or jet boat being damaged by bears while out hunting? Any advice on preventing a griz from chowing down on your boat while off in the bush?

Keep fish blood off the boat. Bring Mr. clean or something strong to scrub off any fish blood.
How about porcupines and ground critters? I haven’t personally had any problems with them, but my brother has and he’s worried about leaving anything unnattended on the ground that’s rubber. He said he’s had them chew all of the covers off of hydraulic hoses and stuff like that while working in camp.

Have heard of porcupines being a real problem in some places, more so than grizz. Know a guy that had the seat of his quad chewed on by a grizzly in the peace country.
had a bear jump into my aluminum boat on a trip on the coast, find a few tuna cans that were stashed away under seat for prawn bait, chew them open and help themselves… I was happy there was only a few puncture marks from the claws on the seat. The boat did smell like fish.
I’ve had bears bite lots of plastic gas cans over the years.
i only know one guy that hot his boat and truck chewed up, there was fresh blood on everything
I had what I think was a bear take a swipe out of my quad seat, but it could’ve been something else too. Also had a bear climb in my tub trailer and chew up a case of water, a gas can and my tent on a separate outting. Had another pull the door off of an outhouse and found a bottle of port that was left inside.

Bears seem to love ATV seats. I think they’re attracted to all the oil and gas smells and the seat is the softest part to gnaw on. It makes me think an inflatable jet boat left unattended in griz country would be a likely target as well.
Bob Hobbs told of a hunt he had on the north coast of BC. He and a friend of his had flown up in Jack's plane to hunt bears. They travelled up the river in an 18 foot inflatable boat. They were up on a ridge, nearly a mile away. Bob looked down at the boat through his binoculars, just as a large grizzly came up on the boat. He said the bear pushed on the boat which floated out a bit then came back in on its tether. The bear pushed it again and the boat went out and came back. I guess the bear thought this was fun, so he reared up and gave the boat a good push with both paws. The boat hit the end of the tether and, since it was well tied, bounced back hard and hit the bear. Mr. Bear wasn't about to put up with that kind of insolence. He jumped right into the middle of that boat and kicked the crap out of it! I think the boat had eight chambers. When the bear was done, maybe a couple were holding air of them were holding air. I don't recall how much that cost them, but it was a bit. GD
Inflatible will get dammaged in Bear Country, usually Blacks are the worst offenders.
Boats up to 10 Ft lenghts can be stored deflated in 45 Steel Drums with Lids. Use 2 Drums opening to Opening held together by one Split Ring. You need 2 Drums becouse of the lenght of the Transom Board. Same system works for storing smaler Outboards.
Good Luck
