Exclamation Looking for a bear hunting buddy :) May 10

So… this is a bit of a long shot, but here it goes:

My hunting buddies can't join me for the spring bear hunt this year for various reasons. I've already booked my vacation and will be going solo, but I was wondering if anyone might be interested in joining me. Novice or pro doesn't matter. It’s always more fun to share the campfire!

The downside is that it's pretty short notice—I’ll be heading out on May 10 and planning to be away for 5–7 days.

My plan is to explore the north end of Vancouver Island, but I’m flexible on the location.
I’m not an expert or anything, but I’ve got a few bears under my belt.

I’ve got transportation and get along well with most people and all age groups. That said, smoking is kind of a dealbreaker—sorry!

Let me know if you're interested, and we can figure something out.

    Thanks!

You're going too early. You'll see more bears waiting about 10 to 15 days from what you've posted.

May 10 is a good time to go. It’s not too warm, not cold either. I used to hunt port Alice area. You will have success. I still miss hunting there, but not planning to go that far. With 4-500 km drive, I could use the time/fuel/money for hunting area 3 or 8 in the fall.
Life is too short and time goes too fast. Hunt, hunt, and hunt....

My time off work is set in stone and I can't change it.
I assumed that the island has milder climate and they will be out earlier?

Spring bear is more just a hunt for me. It is a nice camping trip, break the winter and it's a bonus if I bring back meat.

Lots of bears already shot on the north end of the island, so don’t stress about the timing

Yes, you will be fine, I shot mine on Saturday on the South Island, they start slowly to rut. Good luck.

Greetings. My name is Rick and I live in the Langley area. It's obviously too late for spring bear but I thought I'd reach out in case a fall hunt is of interest. I can be reached at 778-788-6221. I'm a retired business executive. The fellow I have hunted with in the past has other commitments that interferes with his hunting and I made a promise to my wife that I would not hunt alone. If finding someone reliable to hunt with is still on your radar, let me know and we can chat about it. That's also an open invitation to anyone else who happens to read this thread.
