Sorry but in BC that is not correct. I actually agree with you but the government doesn't agree with us.

mens reah actus reas does not apply to the wildlife act . in fact they can revoke a license or issue fines as they see fit for wildlife managment
. it is not to be confused with criminal law.

In this case, it's like the CO didn't buy a tag before hunting the poacher.

If the COs investigative techniques were in the wrong, the poacher couple would have beat the case. They didnt

IMO no one on here should be supporting someone who has pleaded guilty to poaching. It really doesn't sound like a one off and he's trying to skirt the laws which only hurts our hunting community and the wildlife. I hope the CO stayed within his legal responsibilities. If he ends up costing the government $ in a lawsuit by his actions he should be fired.

Let’s be clear….if CO is culpable it won’t cost the “government” anything. It will cost us…the taxpayer.

Let's not forget that OJ was sued in a civil suit for 33 million$ after he was found responsible for the deaths of his x wife and her friend Goldman. As Norm MacDonald said on SNL after the verdict in the criminal trial... "Murder is now legal in California".

If the CO didnt do anything wrong the suit would have no grounds it will get tossed... if theres grounds the CO will be sued personally as well as the Gov.

Any CO that breaches their code of ethics or misleads a judge should be FIRED. And fellow COS should support this
