I've hunted it twice without success. Wouldn't do it again without a jet boat.

    Definitely need a good boat.
Be prepared for the wind to rip up unannounced.

The lake is famous for its winds especially in the area where the Canoe, Mica, Wood and southern arms come together.

My uncle had a trap line in the area for 45 years. I was up there twice when the winds caught us unprepared. Got scary very quickly.

Having said that, my uncle ran a 16’ deep hulled tinney on his trap line….but he had a trailer with a wood stove across the lake where he could wait out bad weather.

Dang. Is it a long crossing? I'd imagine if you'd stay close to shore you would be relatively safe in it's just the crossing over that's dicey?

From the entrance of Sprague Bag to the island near the entrance to Wood arm is 9 km.

From Redrock Harbour to the same island it’s about 6.7kms.

Having said that, we towed a homemade raft from Redrock all the way up the wood arm in early Oct but it was bluebird weather.
We left the raft behind and I drove my motorbike out to the logging ferry while Dad drove the boat. He took on lots of water in a boat not big enough to have a bilge pump.
We over-nighted in my uncle’s mouse-infested trailer that night and waited out the weather.

It’s not a lake to be messed with especially in November.
