What jobs can you work in the field with animals, like wildlife biologist etc.

Curious about jobs like this, the obvious is a wildlife biologist which requires schooling, is there any wildlife biologists on here?

Are there any other jobs where you get to work with game, with or without school?

I got my guiding certification but dont think I will be applying anywhere until next year as its looking like ill be going on a stones sheep hunt of my own this season.

Getting sick of tools. Starting to think about options for full time work in the mountains with game where I belong.

I 've been looking into this too lately.
Not much for options unless you go back to school for 4 years or so. There's the odd wildlife monitor jobs but mainly in Alberta.

Very few biologists spend many days in the field with animals. Mostly paperwork and office work with a few field days here or there.

I spend a fair bit of time with animals… albeit they are carcasses and I’m a butcher

Years back my cousin went into the biology field with hopes to get out into the field. His first few years were temporary postings, mostly in fish counting as that is all they have available through the no ice only season.

It didn't take him long to realize that was a dead horse he was riding and went to UVIC for another 6 month course on teaching. Ended up scoring a biology teaching job in a local high school and has never looked back. Sure it has its drawbacks, but now he has Christmas off, and goes skiing with the kids. Enjoys way more outdoor time hunting then he ever did, and has great local contacts through parents, students on some great whitetail hunting. Win, win, win all around on his part.

Not trying to discourage you, but help you see the full picture. Not that many great jobs out there in the field with animals without schooling, much less with lots of schooling. Guiding would be one of the few, but as a new "kid" you get all the grunt work, but atleast you are out there.
