Most of the lake trout lakes also have good rainbow trout fishing.
Troll shallow with rainbow gear.
Depending on which lake there could be Kokanee or rainbow in the shallows.
The challenge of retirement is how to spend time without spending money.
The worst day slinging lead is still better than the best day working.
Look around is there someone you can introduce to shooting because thats the only way we will buck the anti gun trend sweeping Canada! "tigrr 2006"
There's a short list of lakes that have no rainbow trout

Yeah just about every lake has rainbow trout. A few that don't are stocked with brook trout or kokanee

There are more lakes within a 2 hour drive than you could ever fish in your lifetime. Look at a backroad mapbook. Depending on the version it will give info on lots of lakes in the area.
There's also the Freshwater Fisheries Society, they can give you stocking reports for different stocked lakes in your region

2 Island buddies & I put in for Moose LEH south of Vanderhoof every year. On our 2018 trip we managed to grab the site at Brewster Lake to set up camp. I had my canoe along & went for a few paddles on the lake. Caught one rainbow at the far end of the lake. The focus was on hunting moose, but I also had my shotgun along for waterfowl, so didn't spend a lot of time with a lure in the water.
