Congrats to you and your son Nimrod!
Dad always puts hair on the ground so I’d expect nothing less from his prodigy!

I had my daughter shooting 140gn accubonds out of her 7mm-08. Started out with reduced loads and upped it to full load as she got older. Great performance every time.

We use 120 ttsx in my sons 7 08 with great results. we started the same way 140 sst reduced loads but as he grew we tuned it up. The 120 is a nice balance of performance and recoil. We have them at full loads now as the ttsx likes speed to open them up.

I second the 120 TTSX. Seems like they're always on sale for about $60/box vs. $90 for Accubonds. I'm getting about 2950 fps from a 20" barrel loaded near max and super accurate.

You're assuming that the buck was still broadside when the bullet hit the buck.
And/or, the bullet may have deflected before hitting the buck.

Great deer, and congrats to the young hunter.
You both did well to shoot and recover him.

My niece used that bullet in her 7-08 this fall, MV around 2675 fps. She hit a 3pt mulie through both shoulders, just nuked it, lots of damage

Nice going on a dead deer

An Interlok bullet at least tries to reduce core separation with good success, the Ballistic bomb does nothing
Glad to say I have hunted Northern BC

Use a plain old Hornady for great results... they have been performing well for me for over 60 years.

this was on a moose at over 300 yards... in the chest... didn't take 2 steps and it was down.

The 139 was on a deer about 250 yards

Re: Story of odd bullet performance

My neighbor sent me a photo of his wife’s first deer on Friday. A 6 pt non-typical WT that she took with a .270 Win out of the Weatherby I steered them into. She shot it frontal, and it literally did a back flip, lay there for about 30 seconds, then sat up and tried to walk. His son went out and shot it in the head.

What bullet was she using? You guessed it. He sent me photo of factory Nosler Ballistic Tips. In return, I sent him a link to this thread
