Photo Embedding

A day or so before the recent Security Certificate glitch I noted I was no longer able to embed photos into a post. It seems this has been an issue for folks for some time depending on how/where they store their images. It took me a while to figure out how to do it using my Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage.

I open the image on OneDrive & choose the 'embed' feature. This brings up a side panel with some options including the ability to size the image before copying the link. It also has an option to include html tags which I bypass. Copy the link, paste into post using the Insert Image icon (From URL option). I also need to clear the checkbox under the URL bar in this. Worked great until recently. Now when I paste the link into the URL box, clear the checkmark below it & hit OK, all there is in the post is a blank....

Doesn't matter whether I use advanced reply with post preview or quick reply, no joy either way.

Before that I was able to use my Google cloud storage in a similar way. Now all I'm able to do is copy the link from OneDrive using the share option & the post shows only the hyperlink, not the photo. The link takes you to the photo via a new window.

Hmm this test from Photobucket seemed to work. I wonder if some of these other sites are changing to discourage 3rd party imbedding.

Do you have previous posts where you have posted images in this method and if so, are they behaving in the same way or are they still displaying?

If they are still displaying, let me know which threads / post numbers, etc and I can check to see if I can distinguish any difference

Also if you can try to insert any photos on this thread from any means that worked before that don't work now I can poke around the links a bit to see if I can figure out what is going on and if there is a work-around. Thanks!

Seems as if it's an issue with Microsoft Edge, OneDrive, Windows.... as others are still able to embed using different storage methods. Link to a relatively recent thread where I'm certain I embedded photos successfully. They're no longer visible, not even a remnant of a link or anything, just a blank between text I wrote. When I now go through the procedure as before, same thing, nothing but blank space after clicking ok.

I have no trouble putting text anywhere in my postings before or after posting a picture... using Postimages as my picture hosting site.

I still can't embed photos and old posts that had any of them are now blank, except for text haha. Again, I suspect it's a Microsoft/Windows account thing. Every time they update or 'improve' things it causes issues... doh.
