I was in Region 8 for a few days and buddy and I camped at the edge of a valley along a road with a nice forested ridge above the road in both directions. We hunted the ridge for a few mornings and evenings, going opposite ways. He saw a few does.
Starting Friday afternoon and into Saturday night what sounded like a large group of people showed up through a series of roads on the hills above us (we never heard or saw a vehicle arrive our way) and started talking and yelling and hollering all of Friday and Saturday and into the evening and then fired a shot just up hill really close to our camp Saturday evening an hour after sunset.
Sunday morning suddenly I heard them really close to the spot I was hiking in, just above me what sounded like 100/200 yards away.
Otherwise the place was really really quiet. In previous years it has been busy with vehicle traffic.
But that crew was really noisy and might be the reason I never saw any deer in my spot.
I have never had such noisy neighbours on a hunting trip. Have you?
I was hunting up the elaho And a freaking rave started not far from us. It was messed up. We went to check it out !!! Haha a bunch of half naked girls and drugged up dudes. Dancing all night we went back in the morning it looked like something out of a zombie movie. Some were still alive dancing. Ish Haha. And then they were all gone around 6 that night But the nice people decided not to take anything out. We cleaned up what we could. We ended up with new tents and air mattresses. A few chairs. And lots of garbage The best part was all the beer and bottles they left. I think we ended up with around 48 beer and a couple 26s.

That area has gone bonkers.
When I got my first 4x4 truck in 1992 and until about 2000 it was still pretty quiet up along the Squamish river and Ashlu and Elaho, but as more and more people moved to Squamish and everybody and his dog got a 4x4 SUV or a quad or both, they started over-running the place. I went up for just about the last time 10 years ago on the Friday before the coming Victoria Day holiday on a Monday and it was quiet for the morning, but by the early afternoon as we were leaving every wide spot on the road, muddy field, open spot under powerlines and driveable spot on the river bank and side roads had people parked on them. And Many had guns for "protection" from bears I'm sure and were blasting away with rifles, shotguns and .22 rifles. It was a gong show.
The C.O. in the area, officer Doyle (now Inspector in Victoria) was busy stopping cars, checking for P.A.L. permits and writing tickets. It's a nightmare.
In some areas (Christian Valley, Rock Creek etc etc) such vermin are the reason for so many lands being posted. Knowing a good number of folks who live in these areas, and hearing their Horror Stories it is not difficult to understand why. The most common term they use for these Idiots is Lower Mainland Maggots.

I have a cousin in Keremeos who had his garage broken into while he was at work.
He tried to tell me it was druggies from the Lower Mainland who did it.
As if druggies from the Lower Mainland have vehicles and are able to drive around and case people's houses in the South Okanagan and figure out when their cars are parked at home and when they are not.
I suggested to him that he might like to consider that there were crooks in Keremeos, Cawston, Princeton, Penticton and Osoyoos who might be the culprits. There are crackheads and other drug users in all communities. Just look at the death statistics of fentanyl overdoses. They are everywhere in the province, even beyond Hope.
We went camping up Jones lake one day in June. I guess they had a grad party from Hope up there with music going literally all night. I woke up about 8am and turned my music up. I had quite the car stereo set up. Two 12" subs and other speakers. I opened the doors and put on Yaz. Everyone would have been able to hear it. Wasn't long when a couple half drunk people complained they can't sleep with it on. I said you didn't care about us sleeping last night so why would I care now. They saw the rifle on the hood of the car so just went back to their tent. lol I never got mad but I did get even.

I was NOT referring to druggies.
I WAS referring to trespassing, loud, obnoxious, regulation ignoring VERMIN calling themselves "hunters" from the LML.
Those, specifically, are the IDIOTS my Buddies have had to deal with.
No wonder why so much land is posted these days!
