Whats worked for you guys? Searching old threads found that scraping with an antler and grunting works more than rattling. Any calls im all ears, rattling etc...
And what dates do you typically start and have success?
TIA

I called a big muley in with the grunt tube a few years back, He came in pissed off! Full stiff swagger, raking trees etc.
In thickish timber November 4th, too bad he was a giant 3pt….

I usually start seeing fresh rubs the last week of Oct, through the first couple weeks Nov, so I imagine calling and raking would be affective during that time?
Ive called 5 mature mule bucks in, 3 to bow range when I hunted with a bow and 2 to less then 80 yds with a rifle. I was fortunate to meet Wayne Carlton who is an amazing caller and has his own product line of effective animal calls. During a break at a seminar he taught me about a new way to call he found effective and its been golden for me. Ive brought a 4 point in from a river bank that was 430 yds away to 50 yds of me and my hunting partner also brought a 4 point muley he could see leaving the area he was sitting in brought him back from almost 300 yds to right in front of him. Its a series of calls with the grunt tube that is done quick and you pump the bellows quickly in and out. Wayne doesnt know what it simulates but it sounds like several deer interacting. hard to describe it but its effective.
Their steaks, roasts and burger to me! Tom
I’m always trying to call more effectively, which Carlton call is this?

Me I can call in whiteys but only able to rattle in mules. In 14 deer episodes.

Look around is there someone you can introduce to shooting because that’s the only way we will buck the anti gun trend sweeping Canada! "tigrr 2006"
I’d like to help ya, but I’m just a grumpy old hunter.
I harvest carrots. I kill animals.
