I wouldn't worry about it too much. It is kind of amusing actually, watching the same 10 guys repeatedly trying to convince themselves on the Politics page and Off-topic page that those conspiracy theories, their iron-clad myopic political positions and other rants are correct. The other 27,252 members on the site avoid it and talk hunting on this page, gear exchange and other pages.
Yup if you don't want to read the political post don't click on them. I flick by 9 out of 10 political post because that's not why I joined this forum to read about politics. It just upsets me. But people are still free to post what they want to talk about in the general chat. I support free speech 100%.
He's NOT your buddy, buddy!
I enjoy they diversity of topics on this site and it’s one of the reason I keep coming back.
I wouldn’t change anything.
Personally, I believe that there are less threads about hunting and I simply don't open the threads that are about politics. I miss a lot of the threads that were on here, especially anything by Jelly, but I find I do more looking than participating due to less hunting threads. Having said that, it will come around. I have been part of other forums that were ruined by the moderators trying to change the culture. Keep it how it is and if you want more threads about hunting, then simply post more threads about hunting...I will read them and most likely participate.
I posted a half decent write up on my island hunt, with at least a few pics in there.
Sadly, political interference in our everyday lives and the outdoor pursuits we love is becoming common and somewhat acceptable these days. Governments gifting large tracts of Crown Land to certain ethnic groups, federal governments passing devious gun laws and restrictions, provincial game managers that are a decade behind the times, the list is long . . .
There's a place for politics on this hunting forum. If it's confusing or distressing to certain members, don't click on it. Life's full of choices, choose or not to read the political side of this forum.
There’s a thread called “random outdoor pics” started by Harry toolips which is probably the best thread on this site and it only requires pics of anything outdoors. It has 1147 posts and 287,000 views. That’s around 250 views per post. There’s really only a handful of people on this site that post pics to the thread. The covid thread has about 22 views per post, but way more replies. There’s a lot of posting on the covid thread, but not a lot of traffic.
Anybody who wants to contribute to the site can start by adding pics to that thread Everytime they’re out. It doesn’t require a write up or any explanation, just a pic. And the pic can be of a day at the park feeding the birds, or your favourite fishing spot, whatever you like.
If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you're mis-informed.
