    Durston Dome tents

I know they are brand new but does anyone have any experience with the Durston dome1+, I have wanted to get a Durston but prefer free standing tents. This new Durston looks pretty good was just hoping to get some real world reviews(maybe helped with testing)

Don't have one but it looks like a sweet tent, very well designed and nice features. Really interested to hear real world experience of its performance in nasty weather.

I couldn't wait any longer and ordered one yesterday. I will give a review once I get it. Should be shipped mid November.

    Re: Durston Dome tents

I really like the x-mid 1 in every way except for use in exposed alpine because of how much staking is required to get it good and solid for wind. I used one for the last two years sheep hunting because I wanted to try something a little lighter than my Akto. With an Akto the setup is fast, simple and solid with 10 stakes. No messing around. X-mid is a lot more messing around if you’re concerned about wind. X-mid is not my first choice if I know I’m going to be exposed to wind and moving camp frequently.

The new X-Dome looks great but I’m concerned it may be the same level of messing around to get it all staked out and confident in exposure to wind. I think I’d rather have a low profile tunnel style tent for that.
