    Bush Saw Showdown

When it comes to folding saws for hunters, the key factors are portability, durability, sharpness, and ease of use in the field. Here are some of the top folding saws that are popular among hunters:
    1. Silky Gomboy Curve Professional Folding Saw

    • Features: Known for its excellent blade design, the Gomboy Curve offers a curved blade for efficient cutting. It comes in various blade lengths (210mm, 240mm, and 270mm), making it versatile for small branches to larger limbs.
    • Pros: Sharp, durable, easy to handle, and lightweight.
    • Cons: A bit pricier, but the performance justifies the cost.

    2. Bahco Laplander Folding Saw

    • Features: This is a favorite for many outdoorsmen. The Laplander has a 7.5-inch blade with a 7 TPI (teeth per inch) saw blade, coated for rust protection and low friction.
    • Pros: Lightweight, durable, and affordable. The Laplander is also known for its versatility and great balance between price and performance.
    • Cons: Slightly less aggressive cutting than some premium options, but it's a well-rounded tool.

    3. Opinel No. 18 Folding Saw

    • Features: This is a large folding saw with a 7-inch blade. It features a high-carbon stainless steel blade that’s sharp and long-lasting.
    • Pros: Affordable, rugged, and it has an excellent blade locking mechanism.
    • Cons: Blade length may not be ideal for thicker branches.

    4. Corona RazorTOOTH Folding Pruning Saw

    • Features: The Corona RazorTOOTH has a 10-inch blade with three-sided razor teeth for faster cutting. It's designed for branches up to 6 inches in diameter.
    • Pros: Aggressive cutting power, affordable, comfortable handle.
    • Cons: Larger and heavier than some other folding saws, but good for bigger tasks.

    5. Gerber Freescape Folding Saw

    • Features: Compact and easy to store, the Gerber Freescape uses a 12-inch standard saw blade, which can be replaced when worn out. The design allows for easy handling, even with gloves.
    • Pros: Easy blade replacement, compact, and sturdy.
    • Cons: A bit heavier compared to other compact folding saws.

    6. Agawa Canyon Boreal 21 Folding Bow Saw

    • Features: While more of a bow saw than a folding saw, it folds down compactly and is perfect for more heavy-duty cutting jobs. The 21-inch blade can handle much thicker logs and limbs.
    • Pros: High-performance blade, compact folding design, and suitable for larger tasks.
    • Cons: Bulkier than standard folding saws, but great for heavy-duty work.

    7. Sven-Saw Folding Saw

    • Features: A classic in the outdoor world, this saw has been around for decades. It folds down into a slim profile and is available in 15-inch and 21-inch versions.
    • Pros: Reliable, sturdy, and great for cutting through larger wood.
    • Cons: A bit heavier than more compact folding saws.

Hunters typically favor compact saws like the Silky Gomboy or Bahco Laplander for ease of carrying in the field, but heavier-duty models like the Agawa Canyon Boreal 21 are great if you're dealing with larger trees or need to clear thicker brush.

What do you recommend for a bone saw for big game in the field?

From personal experience: a Silky cuts bone just as easily as wood.

I have a pocketboy. Wife bought a medium blade and I bought the coarse and fine. Man bone destroys the fine and medium blades but the coarse made short work of a found dead bull elk when those antlers came off.
    Just a conspiracy bro!

I use an 18" Wyoming saw for the heavier work [don't recommend the shorter model] and have a Silky folding and a Gerber T handle for other jobs that they can handle.

I have had mine since I was 16, that's going on 24 years now without a problem with my Wyoming saw. Takes apart nice and fits into the hand carrying case, bone blade as well as wood blade. Saved my bacon more times than I can count. Great saws that pack down nice and can go anywhere, while still being strong enough to handle the job. Well worth the investment.

A lot of people on the show Alone are opting for the big Silky saws. They look impressive.
I had a pocketboy and it was great.

Well it’s not a folding saw in the sense but I’ve used a Wyoming Saw II for about 35 years and it’s always in my daypack, back pack or truck, it does break down and is somewhat compact, it has a bone blade as well as a wood blade, I’ve owned many compact and folding saws and that one is always the one I grab.
7-6.5 PRCW the best cartridge since the 280 Ackley 👍
