Tradition holds fast as opening day for Chukars is upon us.
I'll be out chasing those devil birds yet again in the hopes to start off my quest for a multi bird species day yet again!
Sharp shooting everyone!

They are one of the best consistent hunts that I've ever been on.
The action sometime is relentless; scenery is breath taking; and it's never a dull moment.
I hunt with my WPG and the excitement she has is very contagious.
They way that I describe wing shooting is like this ..... how many times do you pull a trigger when out hunting big game?
I've had days that I've run out of shells (like multiple boxes) and had to cut my day short.
I've had days that I've used my single shot 20ga and got blisters on my thumb by having to caulk the hammer back so many times.
I've had times that I just stood and laughed so hard from the size of the covey's my pup has bumped .... like it was never going to end; bird after bird hits the air.
It's not an easy hunt by far ... there's lots of strategy involved. Knowing your partner (in this case my WPG) and her tendencies, setting yourself up in a location that you think the birds might fly too. These birds are super crafty and somehow know your move before it even happens.
A lot of my friends that I've taken out have massive smiles on their faces by the end of the day and now constantly ask to come along.
It's a blast and I think everyone needs to go out once and try it.
I should try to go more often with my griff but there’s not much time left in the fall for me after we put in half a dozen grouse hunts, start waterfowl hunting 2-3 times per week, pheasant hunting, too, and I have to get my two deer, and try to get in a few days coho fishing on the fly. October needs to be twice as long!!
He's NOT your buddy, buddy!
