I took my only bull with a longbow . Early September years ago as well. We had to work hard to get that great meat cooled off. Hope you got help !!

I wasnt able to remove the whole elk like my first one and deboned the fronts. I did do a comparative estimate based on my hip weights from my first one. The hips weighed roughly 70lbs on my first one with a total weight of 412lbs hanging. This guys hips weighed 90lbs so about 25% more which I estimate at around 515lbs dressed

I tip my hat to you for all that work. When you take down an Elk or a moose , the work starts ....in cool weather you can take your time , but early season, sometimes it needs to be done asap.
Again congratz and ya have some fine eating for the winter !
