New to Vernon - Looking for a Butcher

    Hi Everyone,

Just moved from the LML to Vernon and we are currently living out of an Air BnB until we buy a house.

I still want to hunt this year but have no where to butcher my own meat like I normally do.

I've decided that for the most part I'll hunt small game, but if a deer or bear happens to be available I'd hate to pass it up. I just won't be looking for them.

Any local butchers that will take full animals, bone in? Just need them to cut and wrap.

If they can make sausages from bear, even better.

    Thanks

I think grillers does….maybe make a call and find out before. Their sausage is decent.

A short drive to Kelowna, Black Mountain Custom Meat Cutting. https://www.blackmountaincustommeats...BoC6I0QAvD_BwE

They do a great job of cut and wrap and will make sausages

Why can't you butcher in the rental?

It takes so little room to do it, no need for a garage or shop....

Quarter up the animal, keep in a cooler or two.

Throw a quarter on the table or counter and get it done.

My wife, though ok with me hunting would not be ok with me butchering in the kitchen, neither would the girls. They're soft.

To be honest, I'd feel a little awkward bringing it in to butcher at the air BnB anyway, I'm not sure what they're thoughts are on it, and they're right upstairs. I'll be talking to the husband whenever we run into each other. I'll try to get a read. Offer them some meat if they're into it. Maybe he's a hunter and would tell me to hang it in the garage, or maybe they're vegan and would be super unhappy. I want to respect their home, and them.

Another vote for RT. He'll take most game, even will skin it out if needed (for extra). Just call ahead. I have used Grillers lots but tired of getting yelled at (they are always super busy so guessing overworked?). They do excellent work but i don't need the hassle. Hopefully its changed there so don't want to say one way or the other.

Hellman's sausage is the best for sausages.

Don't know if he butchers though as we used to only take him meat. There should be several home butchers, just don't remember any off hand.
