    Bird season 2024

I brought Loki the dog of mischief out with his cousin for a little stroll. We did see some birds but I passed on them.

Is there a bow season for birds right now or does your region have an opening that starts before Sept. 10? I get to start on grouse text week but will try to find some Canadas for the goose opening on Saturday.

    DD or German Wirehair?

If the world is warming why are there so many new snowflakes?

If we are all equal why do you demand special treatment?

That's awesome! I've only had Brits and Griffs myself, as well,,,,both great breeds! Both my Britts were liver and white, though. The colour on my computer screen is obviously off. On my screen it looks like the nose is black,,,,hence, the GWP/DD question.

I haven’t seen that many griffs, but I’ve never seen two that look the same. I can say he’s probably the smartest dog I’ve ever met and I don’t mean obedient, but just natural brains. He’s the reason I got a bird dog

They are definitely very intelligent dogs! With hard work, consistency, and diligence it's quite possible to end up with a finished dog in both upland,,,,steady to flush, steady to wing, and steady to shot before sending the dog to retrieve the bird, as well as honouring other dogs' point AND for waterfowl,,,,steady to shot before sending but also being able to do multiple marked retrieves as well as blind retrieves by searching or by using hand signals or whistle commands. Part of their versatility is also being able to find lost game. So far my griff has recovered 5 lost deer for hunters. Nothing like seeing a happy hunter once his deer has been located, especially if it's their first deer.

In BC you are allowed to have a dog track big game. However, in Alberta it would be considered illegal. It is a hunting law that should be revisited but at this point, the only big game in which dogs can be used for tracking is cougars in Alberta.
