    Backcountry Maps

    Hi All,

I'm looking for suggestions for a backcountry maps app with FSR's etc? What do you folks use? Thanks!

I use back roads map chip in my Garmin GPS, works very well showing roads that are so grown up you would not even know to look there then when you do follow what the GPS says you can see hints of old roads, works for me

BRMB is good, BUT! It's just a copy of the government maps that you can see on bc gov imaps. Half the roads bridges in the on it no longer exists in the areas I hunt so don't believe it till you drive it.

I second that -- it's pretty good, as long as you take into account that it remembers many roads long after the alders have taken them over. I've found it to be more accurate in areas with recent logging.

What's nice is that the app lets you save an area so you can get a GPS map display without a data connection.

I use BRMB in my Garmin and use OnX Maps to scout. I also have HuntBuddy and iHunter. I like iHunter to tell whether I am on private property or not. I find that they all have their niche reason to use. As other say about BRMB as I have gotten lost and spun around on roads that didn't exist in the fields in the Kootenays. Was more of a piss off as it ruined my evening hunt...Oh, I also bring an old laptop with maps downloaded to get a better aerial view when scouting as I find it difficult on the Garmin. I love the OnX Maps as I can plot hiking trails easy which saves time.
