lol, good timing. Right now I can count at least 20 in the field just below the house. 3 spikes, a 4pt and the rest cows and calves. Half feeding, half bedded.Thermometer says 27 degrees. One of the spikes is curling his lip and taking interest in a couple of the cows. Had the run put on him a couple of times. Heard a bugle on Friday morning, early, like 3 or 4 am, one this morning, so they are talking at least a wee bit.
Harry….where are you headed for your elk hunt?
I had a bull going pretty good yesterday morning. I figured I was 150-200yds north of the bull and roughly the same elevation. I only had 40-50yds and I would be out of the old cutblock and back into the old growth so I thought, no better time then now to finally get that rock out of my boot. The morning thermals had changed and started to rise so things were looking good. Just getting my boot back on and starting to do up the laces when I felt the wind shift to the north….5 seconds later I hear something large erupt 40yrds north of me and take off down hill…..game over
An exciting thread for someone like me wanting to get into elk next year!
Is it true my wife is going to hate me for practicing bugling in the car?
Lol I practice in the house all the time, she hates it.. but lol when I've brought back elk meat in the past, she feels like she did her part because she tolerated it..
