Was in my chair last night practicing up my calling. My wife just looks over at me and says the grandkids would probably love you if they heard that. All those squeaks and squawks.
They are new calls this year as I misplaced my calls from last year so I take each mouth reed through a series of different tones to help stretch them a bit. They seem to settle in better.
I’ve never been able to get mouth calls to work.
On another note, what is your plan if you get an animal down in this heat? I have a cooler full of ice, and am close to my “cool room”, but some of you guys are a long way from home. Do you have a freezer and generator, or the coolbot in a cargo trailer?

I'll be hunting alone this year for most of the year. I plan to hit the road same day or the next morning after a kill, depending on time of day its down and how tired I am after the pack up. I usually go gutless and 1/4's into bags right away. I have some small snatch blocks with carabiners if I need to maneuver things around and paracord. I plan for 3-4 hrs for this on my own.
I'm on a sxs and will drive in, walk in to areas I was in last year. Have a backup pack if I need to get in to where the sxs can't reach with tarps for shade, as that helps a bit as well.
At first glance it looks to be 6x6 but it’s hard to tell with out a better look at the bottom end
Nice. I thought the right side was very possibly a 6. I left that camera for a “deep soak” in a boggy area expecting moose, but looky there…
