    2024/2025 Hunting Plans

This year is planned to be a busy one. Flying to Ft. St. John Sept 15-30. Meeting buddies up there and going to chase goats and then elk. Oct 9-14 headed to Kettle Valley to chase Whitetails. Nov 8-11 going to go after blacktails. I will also get out for lots of ducks and geese action between Oct-Jan. Hopefully get out March 1-10 to chase Brant geese on the salt chuck.

Next year, I plan to put in for the combo elk draw in Montana and continue building pts in Wyoming for speed goats/elk. Likely continue with my donation to Alaska for the Emperor Goose draw and I might buy a Utah preference point for the Swan draw with plans to hunt in 2026. Next year, buddy in AB should be able to sponsor me out there and he has 100's of acres in the heart of elk country. Also, try again for the Saskatchewan Canadian non-resident whitetail draw.

I'm curious what others are planning to focus on this year and if anyone else buy's points or enters draws outside of BC.

I just moved to Penticton in the spring so I’ll be exploring and looking for a mule deer, whitetail buck and a bear. Maybe stumble on a 6 point elk if I’m stupidly lucky. End of November I’ll be in Alberta looking for a big whitetail buck.

Been and back from a Stones hunt, headed to ‘Gwaii next Friday for a week. Roll right into elk season when I’m back. Be the first elk opener I’ve missed in 20+ years but thats ok. Then it’s geese until moose day. Whitetails and muleys and probably a black bear or two along the way. And all of ‘em gonna drop to the Moose Hammer this year.

    Pretty average year over here.

going to be up in zone 7 from the 31-18th hunting Moose and elk.
then coming home and weekend hunting my local white tail every weekend looking for a specific buck and then another week booked off just before the November long weekend to go chase big four points and if I don’t find one I like I have a LEH Doe tag to fill for some extra good meat.

Shame I’ll miss pretty much the entirety of the local salmon season but it is what it is

This is my big dilemma as well, missing the Chinook season mostly as well. 29-2 was opened July 15, I wish they did the same with 29-3. Hopefully I can get out once or twice before I head north on Sept 15.

    Youth hunt September 1st.
Moose draw Sept. Will bring some things up on the 15th-16th, and then hunt hard from the 22nd-28th. I will go back up after church on the 29th if I haven't connected by then.
October might go antlerless whitetail with kids if they aren't successful in youth season
November-December couple of 2-3 day hunts looking for a big guy.
Furthest North I'll go is region 5.

Might take my kid out for youth any buck if he feels comfortable shooting a bigger gun than a 22..then Elk 6 pt GOS to start, with maybe a goat hunt on that one as well if my hunting partner feels like it. Another elk hunt planned 4-5 days beginning of Oct, other than that just hunting deer and moose local, and maybe getting my kid on more grouse...

I don’t have a draw this year, so it will mostly be close to home in the regions 8 & 4 border country. WT, MD, Moose and Elk are all on my radar (and cameras), as well as the usual daily dogs chasing birds thing.
If we’re not supposed to eat animals, how come they’re made out of meat?

    Re: 2024/2025 Hunting Plans

I have 20 days straight off in Sept to chase elk, starting with archery hunting for the first time ever.

If I’m lucky enough to get one down early, the plan switches to get the wife on her first buck.

Oct and Nov will be full of little solo trips for mule deer and whitetail, as well as partnering up with anyone that wants some company.
