"If you ever go into the bush, there are grizzly bears lurking behind just about every bush, waiting to pounce, so you need a powerful gun, with huge bullets" - Gatehouse ~ 2004
My last moose I took with a 308, 168g 300 yard neck shot, bang flop great caliber for moose.
I would shoot an elk or moose to about 400 yards with a .308. Weak link is always to shooter, just shoot to your capabilities and you will be fine. Hunting shop employees vary from super knowledgeable -( Like Bartell or Shane at Reliable) to guys that have more trigger time on video games than the range...
Knowledgeable shooters agree- The 375 Ruger is the NEW KING of all 375 caliber cartridges. ALL HAIL THE NEW KING!
That's a beauty old Winchester. Haha I figured as such, 308 is new to me so still getting to know it. Picked up a mint 72 blr last year and put a 2.5-8 vari x3 on, first season hunting with it can't wait
Not sure where your finding 270 wsm for 150$ a box, but that's a ripoff. I stocked up on over 15 boxes from Profit River where they were between 70-100$, not cheap, but it's lighter on the wallet. Ended up buying my own dies, seems like reloading is the way to go these days.
