BC Moose Tracker app is another way to help monitor numbers. Entirely voluntary, spot moose, enter the data & submit. Perhaps they should provide this for other species that are struggling.

Just completed survey, notified by email. It asked only about Elk. Purchased tags for mule & whitetail deer, moose & elk. Entered LEH for moose & elk, not drawn for either. Sighted one elk during bow season region 8.
Wildlife Branch has received the same information 3 times regarding my 2023 moose hunt. Once through the Guide Outfitters report. Again through a CI. And a third time through the emailed survey.
Is it really necessary to tell them the same thing 3 times?!
Poor data collection process if it can't cross reference information that has already been collected.
Got the questionnaire re my LEH draw for moose in 5-1. Only asked a few items about my moose draw.
Just got my Hunting Questionnaire concerning our LEH Bull Moose Draw and other tags I purchased . Filled out and submitted .

Nope, I was hiking the Okanagan High Rim trail. I remember bumping something big last year on the same trail early in the season as well but didn't get a good enough look to confirm if it was elk. It made a helluva racket thrashing around in the bush. Definitely bigger than a deer & not the kind of area a moose would mess around in although I've spotted moose up there as well, Oyama Lake.
This season I got a real good look at his rack. I nocked an arrow & took a couple steps to get a better look. He was a dandy. Took another step & got busted. Heard him bugle a couple times after a few minutes. He had moved quite a distance in the timber. It was steep & thick. I didn't have my elk call with me 'cause I was after deer & the last thing I expected was to run into an elk. I continued up the trail until it opened up to a decommissioned FSR and there was a quad with a compound bow case on the back. The hunter had headed down a steep slope in pursuit. Heard a couple more bugles after that, but no more sighting.
I kind of suspect the herd that hangs out on the ranch near Kelowna ranges up into the area I was hiking at some point during the year, apparently early September haha. Pretty sure some of the droppings I've seen up there are elk, but they're old, not fresh. Gonna set up some trail cams next year.
I drive Hwy 6 quite often up to the Monashee Pass & have never seen elk. I know there are elk past that down towards the Fauquier ferry but seldom go there.
