Sit outside our Tulameen cabin and shoot the ones hanging around in our big fir tree.
For various reasons I haven't done any hunting this Fall but our Princeton Son is constantly in the hills around there and Tulameen and sees lots of 'em.
Cook Creek FSR, Rabbitt Mountain, they seem to be all over the place this year.
Get out and walk some of those FSR's.
^^ This for sure. I have spent a fair amount of time walking in the bush this year and have not had a single day I didn't spook a grouse if I covered a couple hours of ground. Usually will see 1 - 5 when I go out.
I have found that they like the edges of FSRs when there is enough coverage for them to hide about in them. I also like to wander down the spurs as they tend to flush out there too.
I have found wandering around and noticing what the habitat is like where I see them is helpful for finding more in similar spots in the future.
Of course actually finding them again once you spook them is a different game all together.
