Re: Have you renewed your Pal?

My wife and son did their initial PALs last summer and got them within a month.

I did my RPAL renewal online last week, I don't expire for a few months yet but I'm hoping there's no issue, expiry is right in the middle of hunting season.

This will be the first time I've renewed online, I've never been asked to provide proof of range or club membership for my RPAL, this is probably my 4th or 5th renewal.

Re: Have you renewed your Pal?

So I submitted my renewal in early June, 11 months early just in case, got my new PAL in the mail 3 weeks later.

Nice to have it right away... chatted to an ex-rcmp member on a jobsite on Friday and he said that if there is another RPAL holder in the same house (residence) then they usually expedite it through since there are no red flags possible and if your PAL expires, you can just maintain your firearms under the other persons PAL.

Might be a good idea for everyone's wife, husband or significant other to get their RPAL as well, just in case.

Spanking new PAL card came in the mail today, all the way from New Brunswick. Just over a month, not bad considering we're well into summer holidays. I guess RCMP employees are on the job....... unlike most politicians & civil servants...

The new format of card is thinner, photo is b/w vs colour & not all that great.... There's a transparent maple leaf with a hologram of your photo floating in it.... I reckon it's more difficult to counterfeit this version.

I also got an email from the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program office regarding "Enhanced online services".

    "Enhanced online services
The Canadian Firearms Program (CFP) is committed to providing services that are simple, modern and efficient. CFP’s new online services reduce processing times and provide secure and seamless processing of firearms licence and registration applications for 2.3 million individual and 4,500 business clients.
First-time applicants (individuals, businesses, carriers and shooting clubs and ranges) can submit and check the status of their firearms licence applications online. The MyCFP inbox allows applicants to communicate with the CFP quickly and securely. Additionally, Safety Course Instructors may also enter Canadian Firearms Safety Course report results online.
Modernization efforts will continue with more services moving online. Visit us for the latest updates at https://rcmp.ca/en/firearms."

There was more in the email regarding legislative changes, but I've omitted to stay on topic. I suspect licence holders that have applied online and/or created an account with the CFP will receive the same.

Re: Have you renewed your Pal?

At about the three and a half month mark and after three calls to Miramichi and getting nowhere, following some advice from here, I contacted my MP’s office. They made an inquiry on my behalf and I had an RPAL in my hand about two weeks later. Almost 4 months to the day from the day I applied.

Renewed my RPAL online. Been 4wks so after checking status online I phoned the BC Chief Firearms office extension and asked for an update and if anything else was required. Person I spoke with asked me to confirm name of my range and expiry date. I provided over the phone and my renewal was approved and off to que for printing and mail.
