moose hunting with a packer

I am looking for a pack in trip far ehough up north where you don't need a leh. Maybe moose and elk combined. I don't want a guide just a packer. Any good info out there

Are you looking for a trophy or just meat animals...cause you can do it yourself and save alot of money....but the packers can get you back into country that will have more trophy animals...another way is to get a jet boat ride...get dropped off and then have them pick you up a week or so later ...that has worked for me in the past.

What Palmer said! If you are after any legal moose/elk, l would plan and do it yourself. Over the years l have hunted new areas with and with out an leh and by far, l have had more successful hunts then "tours" Last year, leh's took us to Atlin, (very,very nice country , may have to go back.... ) struck out on the leh's but both of our bull moose were shot under a general season.....and l know you don't have to go that far north for moose only. Driving north, there was alot of country that looked moosey/elkish that a person could have hunted. Study maps, and ask around.........there aren't many places other hunters haven't been into.

Up around Deese lake. In the middle part of Sep. I've got four guys interested in going. Thanks for the info. I could use any or all info.

dease lake area has some good moose hunting from what i have been told..just go and do it on ur own and save the money for beer umm i mean supplies..

if your gonna do dease lake on your own make sure that your ready to put some miles between your self and the road. i was up there for a couple days last season and found that most areas along the two roads were completely devoid of moose . from what i here it gets alot better away from the very few easy access areas.

If you are after both moose and elk, dease lake is not the place...no Elk season there. You would be better to look between Ft St John and Ft Nelson....both are open season there.

Good choice. Using a packer to get you in, off of the pavement, is far more economical than trying to do it yourself, considering equipment costs these days. A days horse riding should put you into pretty good hunting, and a supplied camp, if thats what you choose. Check out Cliff at Tetsa River Outfitters or Jeff at Steamboat Mountain Outfitters. Both operate in good elk country. And , if your 'Otherhalf' likes horses like most do, you could make a holiday out of it.

Have you looked at Blue Creek Outfitting Rental Corp. they are in the game regs. I have been trying to talk my son into going on a trip , he dosn't like horses so got to keep working on him!!!
