I myself like my sako .270, it is one smooth shooting gun.
You can take the man out of the wilderness but you cant take the wilderness out of the man.
45-70 I bought it for back up when I drew a Grizzly draw in one of the inlets. Planned on using a longbow with a buddy for backup, but still wanted a good nock down power gun close to me. I use it for guiding now and backup for bears with the hounds. Great short little gun!
If you're going to find tracks you better make tracks!
Remington 7 Mm Mag.fast , Flat Shooting And Is My Bud
300. win mag....in case something else decides to go hunting
.375 H&H. Will be my favorite for ever and ever. Good knock down power. Adequate range 95% of the time.

"Do cow moose have white inside their ears"?!!!!!
Only one? My 25/06 is quickly becoming my favorite kick around gun. Accurate, easy on recoil, and big enough to do 95% of my hunting requirements. I enjoy the big magnums l own, but when you get to reloading in excess of 100 grs of powder per cartrige, they usually aren't the toys you want to take out for a casual afternoon of target shooting, or plinking around.........

30.06 because it was the one all around calibre that was most suggested when I was getting into shooting, many moons ago and it just stuck. The more I learn the more it still sticks.!!!!!!!!
Take a kid hunting its more rewarding than shooting an animal yourself!!
