    CORE Help

    Hello all,

Im going to be challenging the core exam on the 13th and was wondering how much effort I should spend on the bird section? or is there a section that I should focus on? My brother (Noahdawg) has givin a few suggestions but I would like to know what you think.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I wouldn't spend a huge amount of time on it, know what a gallinaceous bird is, the dif between puddle ducks, dabblers etc. as in how do they look, legs positioned on the body (towards the front/back in the middle), how do they take flight spring into the air or skitter along the surface. That sort of thing. Which bird has hairy feet, the basic descriptions, if you got this nailed, you will do fine. The bird section is no where near what it used to be.

    Re: CORE Help

My experience has shown that most students have problems with animal and bird ID and the laws and regulations chapters.

Make sure you know the different "classes" of both upland and migratory birds as thre will be questions pertaining to those sections.
Also know how to find stuff in the regulations....ie:dates for specific species open seasons;what is in the different sections of the synopsis etc.......

If you don't panic and take your time you should be OK.
When answering the questions don't second guess yourself. If you have studied properly and done the chapter review questions in the book generally your first gut instinct is the correct answer.

Its multiple choice and the CO didn't show my mastakes so I can't really tell you what I had problems on. But you should study about the animals and birds.

    Good Luck
