Re: best duck/goose calls
I'm using a old goose call handed down to me from my dad. I was just playing with it yesterday, but I forget what brand. Reed is still good in it. My dad has killed lots of geese with it and I've killed lots of geese with it.
Not sure what was paid for it. However it's packed up in my "priority box" for my move. Maybe I'll dig it out to see what it is.

If it's the A-50 with the black barrel and brown end pieces and it's in very good condition your call is worth $20-$30 now-a-days and a bit more if you kept the box, lid and instruction sheet. There are still lots of the A-50 calls in use and they are quite collectible.
If you have one of the rarer colours it could be a $50-$75 call. I recently purchased a rare all cream coloured one with gold lettering.:-D
Re: best duck/goose calls
I have tried a number of the so called high end calls, however, I find my old, well probably antique by now, Olts work as well now as ever. I have 3, an A 5 goose, a D 2 duck and a Big Water duck. I do not think I would trade exchange them for any of the newer more expensive brands.

All of the PS Olt calls are very collectible items. The older A-5 goose calls in VGC with the end of the insert shaped like a keyhole are $40 plus today. If that Big Water call you have is the adjustable PS Olt K-11 in good condition with crisp white lettering it's $90-120.00 call. Those are hard to come by and always are in demand by collectors. The D-2's bring $25-$35 and if it's one of the D2's with the World Logo which were only made in 1956-58 they have gone as high as $105.00 in VGC with a good box, lid and instructions. Sounds like you just might have an "old" high end call!

It is black and brown. It's in good condition... however not in the box or anything. My dad bought it quite awhile ago. Dad bought back in the 80's I think. Many geese have died by it.

I've got a few P.S.Olt Mod.66's, some still in the box and two Sonderman 66's in the box. I bought them on Ebay a few years ago and I'm just gonna hang on to them, may be worth some money one day! K

Re: best duck/goose calls
Someone should put on a seminar. Im sure theres a few of us out there that would love to attend. Felt really good about my calling in the early season, having lots of success bringing birds in. As expected late in the season the birds were less receptive. My focus this off season is working on finishing close in birds
