We where unsuccessful in our moose hunt this year, now I need to fill the freeze. Wondering what the deer hunting is like around Smithers? Anyone wanna give me a hint as to where to look? I have never been to the area not looking for your honey hole just the name of a road, mountain, farmer you know a hint. Thanks guys and girls I promise to post pics and story if it gets exciting.

why not try for moose during GOS out around where we were goat hunting. It's suppose to be pretty good there.

Regarding the OP's question, I have not seen many deer while hunting around Smithers. In farmers fields, yes, elsewhere, no. My father in-law does not see many deer either where he hunts out of the Babine. I am lead to believe that Smithers is not known for its deer.

Lawson will always holds deer. Hunt the power line. Should see muley and whitetails in there. Probably come across some elk too... That there is no season for. Be great moose hunting around coffin lake come october 20.
