Been Actively hunting for 3 years now and have absolutely no luck what so ever. I have seen them, I have shot at them but have always had something go wrong. Well this year in the any buck season i hit my mark and I hit it dead on. Caught this little guy 3x3 coming out of a timber line at about 11:00am on sunday. Hit him just at the bottom behind the right shoulder and up throw the heart and he was down. He weighed around 135 gutted and skinned at the butchers.

Nicely done! 3 years is not bad at all. Nothing wrong with that, and should be a good eater this time of year.Congrats!!!

Ah man, so nice to finally pick up a thread about real hunting instead of roadblocking or white moose from back east.
That's just awesome. I am also on year 3 without anything to speak of. So, I have a pretty solid concept of what you've been through. Thanks for sharing, motivation goes up again!

So I should not feel bad about not getting my first deer after nearly one month of hunting? ;-P ... the closest I have come was last weekend, seeing a dozen mule does in 3-13. I pleaded with them, but they would not lead me to their boyfriends. I tried my Ester-doe call on a couple of them, but they just stood there looking at me like I was an idiot. I gave it a rest and took some pictures.
