Well with butterflies in his tummy he finally fell asleep around 9pm went to bed at 7:30 lol. With hardly a word he bounced out of bed at 3:30 am got dressed had some toast loaded the truck and on the road by 4am. Met up with fieldmarshall down in Cowichan around 5 and we headed to the field. Well by 6:30 am the boys and us old farts had the decoys out the blind up and were ready to go. A quick round of hot chocolate and it was time to get busy.
The first flock came in around 7:30 and you would never guess the oldest shooter in the blind was 12. The birds dropped their landing gear and came in from the right as they came across five shots fired and four geese crumpled to the ground. My son was so excited when the one he was aiming for dropped out of the sky his face lit up the sky. Both of the other boys connected as well. From that point on we saw tons of birds and occasionally a couple came our way. Logann and James continued dropping geese like champs. Logann got a shot at a flock of specks and happened to nail the cackler in the group which might just end up getting mounted.
A big thank you to fieldmarshall and the crew
