Congratulations on two good looking rams. Is that your first? Very cool to share that with your Dad. As SSS mentioned - I am curious as to what is going on with your Dad's ram's hide?

Thanks for the great pictures and once again well done on a great hunt

Yes first rams for us both first sheep hunt also many more to come now though I'm hooked haha and ya my dads sheep had tons of winter hair on it still it was a 12 and a half year old ram missing 4 of the 8 bottom teath so we just figured the age had a big factor on why it had not shed all it's hair yet

I've seen August 1st goats still shedding their winter coats but never any sheep. Weird........

Sounds like you did that ram a favour. Did you guys keep the cape?

ru rancher

Ya we got the cape on both the taxidermist said that most of that winter coat will come out when they tumble it he said he has saw that before on older rams

10-02-2013, 06:01 PM
For an August hunt your options are Dalls and Stones so it looks like you're going for the white sheep next!

ru rancher
10-02-2013, 06:04 PM
thats what i figured i also saw a season for rockey mountain bighorns that opens august 15 in region 7 any expieriance there storys anything? and ya what about way up north west BC for them dalls any knowledge there either?

BCbillies
10-02-2013, 06:14 PM
Pulling a Rocky out of region 7 or a Dall out of BC is no easy task but a few have done it. I'd go for the Dalls myself. Do a search on the site and you'll find a few success stories.

Stone Sheep Steve
10-02-2013, 06:59 PM
You'll have to draw an LEH for White sheep but not for Reg 7 bighorns. Put in for white sheep and have bighorns for a back up hunt.
