Visiting a buddy up there to hunt for a few days, rather stay at a motel than impose on his household, any places recommended? Any to avoid? All I need is clean and safe ( for my vehicle/gear in room).

The Red Coach used to be pretty decent, probably quieter that the "jake brake" super 8 up on the hill.

Edit: appearantly not a decent place any more.

We stayed at the Red Coach 4 years ago. Got in at 1:30am, checked out at 6 AM, had the truck broke into and also had one entire moose stolen. Figured the desk clerk might have been in on the whole scam.

Talking to the CO afterwards apparently there are quite a few local issues with crime in 100 mile. I would stay out of town in a tent.

We've stayed at 99 mile Motel, we were able to park right outside our door, it was clean and reasonable.

Used to stay there many moons ago we call it the red roach now :) Ramada inn is great, right up from the cop shop so fairly safe, talk to Rob at the front desk tell him Mike who works at Ainsworth sent you and you will get the gifted price, good luck.

Still called the Lakewood, eh? I concur, I rather sleep in a culvert than that place, don't even consider whatever "restarant of the month" is operating in there either. I can't recall anything that lasted more than 6 months in there.

I stayed at the Nomad in Clinton few weeks back, was nice and clean. Seem like good people. I recommend it.

If you are in the Horse Lake area, go to Cariboo Bonanza Resort. The owners there are also hunters and your gear would be safer there. They are off the beaten path and you don't get the crime that occurs along the highway. BTW most of our stolen vehicles end up out at Alexis Creek. That being said 100 Mile really doesn't have much crime to speak of so the whole area is relatively safe. Much more so than most communities. It is just the visibility on the highway that I would be concerned about.

this place is not in 100mile but close. its right on Horse Lake. Very nice and cheap. depending on what way you are going hunting this might be a good place.

I stay in 100 mile at least a half a dozen times a year. Red Coach is the way to go. It's middle of the road at best but if you stay in the horseshoe shaped building at the back you will more than likely be able to park at the door for security. The resteraunt /pub is always a surprise as well - great food! Cobb salad to burgers

if you can help it stay at the round up in clinton. The cops sit in the parking lot catching speeders all night, park you truck right infront of your room and its 85 a night. Clean aswell. Just a 2nd option, otherwise the super 8 in 100 mile is good.

Anyone ever have problems taking cased rifles into hotels? Should one ask first?
